"As our sculpture began to get larger and more dependent on the materials found in nature, we began to explore how we could translate the ideas of the wood pieces directly into bronze, making them suitable to be shown in the natural environment. In 2001, with the Walla Walla Foundry, we began to fabricate bronze sculptures using the process of directly burning out wood forms from plaster based molds, filling the void with poured bronze. A hand brushed patina process was developed to replicate the wood surfaces."
